Origin of our gold and our diamonds
In our shop-workshop located in the rue de Marseille in Paris, we design all our creations, and entrust a Parisian fine jewellry craftsman, trusted partner, for their making, located in the Parisian Marais. We consequently favor a short making process and a local know-how, while minimizing our carbon footprint.

Prioritizing traceability, and ethical and environmental responsibility, our craftsman selects the diamonds of our creations from diamond dealers in Anvers, in Belgium. They are certified by the Kimberley Process, also know as the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS). This international agreement garantees conflict-free certified diamonds, and allows to put an end to the trade of conflict diamonds.

The 18k gold comes from French gold refiners labeled Responsible Jewellery Council. This label is awarded after auditing led on their gold supply, certified conflict-free. These refiners also adopt a social and environmental code of conduct on extracting conditions, and waste reprocessing from extraction.

Diamonds, etymology and definition
There are 4 precious stones, among which diamonds, but also, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. We distinguish precious stones from semi-precious stones, also called gems. Among the quartet of precious stones, the diamond is the only one made of pure crystallized carbon.

From an etymological point of view, the word diamond takes its origins from two terms: diamas in Latin, and adamas in Ancient Greek, evoking a hard and immutable element.
From the first diamonds to modern fine jewelry
What's a diamond?
Historically, the very first diamonds were used to decorate religious objects in India, more than 4 000 years ago! Later on, in Ancient Greece, diamonds were considered as precious, since they symbolized teardrops of the gods. India was during a long time the first diamond-exporting country, until the first quarter of the 18th century, when new diamond deposits were discovered in South America. The Enlightenment allows the triumph of fine jewellry, among the higher classes and the nobility. Since the sucess of diamond exploration in Cape Town, in South Africa, fine jewellry has conquered the heart of every woman and stands side by side with fashion jewelry.

The 4 C
If you have ever had an interest in diamonds, you probably already know about the 4C characterizing them. These four criteria were established in 1931, during the creation of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to universally determine the features of a diamond: Carat, Color, Clarity and Cut.

* Carat
The caratage of a diamond refers to its weight, its a measurement unit where one carat equals 0.2 grams.

* Color
White diamonds are classified in 23 shades, from D to Z, gathered into color families.

* Clarity
Each stone, wheter precious or simple gem, includes internal imperfections, called inclusions, or external ones, altering its surface.

* Cut
The dimaond cut is made on the rough diamond by a diamond dealer. It's the only of the 4C determined by human intervention.
How is a dimaond made?
Diamonds originate from the bowels of the Earth! Resulting of a natural several million year long process, the formation of a natural diamond requires several specific conditions. A temperature of about 1 300°C and a pression approaching 70 tons per cm3 allow its formation in the Earth's mantle, at around 200 km deep. The variation of these conditions influence the quality, hence the 4Cs of diamonds. They are led to the Earth's surface by volcanic eruptions and thanks to the presence of kimberlite.
