Our story
Creating jewellery takes time. This is a long process, which stretches all the way from design to manufacture. The design phase includes the initial drawings and sketches, the search for materials from our partners, and our workshop prototypes.
Manufacture requires time to cut, drill, shape and polish. This is followed by assembly, mounting stones and preparing coloured layers of lacquer. All of these steps are completed by our team, in our own workshop. On top of this comes the time to cast, to weld, to gild and to enamel, a series of crucial steps entrusted to partners selected for the quality of their work.
Medecine Douce is a question of style. We take current styles and moods as a guiding light for our collections, forging a Parisian spirit for modern, stylish and laid-back girls. This is elegant simplicity at its best, where authenticity puts luxury within reach.
A question of time
Creating jewellery in our Paris workshop and working with French artisans is a deliberate choice, and one which forms part of who we are. By producing only what is needed, and reducing waste by recycling as much unused material as possible, we can help reduce our impact on the environment.
When we choose a hand-made product, we put the human being at the centre of the process: we know who worked on this piece, and we know who we’re selling it to. By remaining local and small in scale, we never need to stock large quantities and then run promotions to sell them all. What’s more, we choose to work with fully certified French partner suppliers for our raw materials, ensuring that we help preserve our resources and the people who provide them.
Lastly, this guarantees us complete freedom to create. We are free to renew our collections every season, bring out limited editions and release capsule collections.

Putting craftsmanship first
Child of the Canal Saint-Martin, Medecine Douce was founded in 2000 by Marie Montaud. Following a series of collaborations with some of the biggest names in fashion, the brand has now found a home on Rue de Marseille in Paris. A space for both the boutique and the workshop, these form the two essential parts of the brand, working in synergy.

For Medecine Douce, choosing a piece of jewellery means taking care of yourself, doing something deeply intimate to make you feel better, more positive and better aligned.

And when you choose jewellery designed and manufactured with care, authenticity and transparency for somebody else, you are taking care of them too. This is a way to take care of the world and choosing to make a difference. You are choosing an item made with care by an artisan, and supporting the local communities and the values which make us human.
Cast an eye through the windows in our boutique and you’ll see Marie creating new pieces while Cécile oversees manufacture and Tuyet maintains strict quality control of each item. You may also see Pascaline in charge of our social media and e-shop, while Alissia and Claire receive you in the boutique to give you advice and information you need to make your choice. Down at the Bon Marché, Sacha is ready to take you through our collections and find the perfect piece for you. Lastly, Gilles maintains and develops our relations with our partners, who distribute Medecine Douce in France and around the world.

It’s thanks to these skilled pairs of hands that our jewellery is designed, produced and delivered to you, season after season.
Staying local, staying transparent
